DAY 1

14 Sep - Arrival in Ulaanbaatar
  • Activities: Transfer to the hotel. Unpack and rest in the hotel. Short city tour with visits to:
  • Gandan Monastery: Capture the essence of local prayers, monks, and the biggest standing indoor Buddha statue.
  • National Museum of Mongolia: Photograph exhibits showcasing Mongolian culture from the Stone Age to the 21st century.
  • Sukhbaatar Square (Chingis Khaan Square): Capture the architecture and daily life in the central square of Ulaanbaatar.

DAY 2

15 Sep - Fly to Western Mongolia

Activities: Take a flight to Ulgii town, the central town of Bayan-Ulgii province where 90% of the population is Kazakhs who have their own language and unique culture. Kazakhs are famous for their Eagle hunting game tradition. Meet our vehicle and the local team. Visit the local museum to know more about Bayan-Ulgii province and its majority ethnic group - Kazakhs.

DAY 3

16 Sep - Drive to Tolbo Lake

Activities: Drive to Tolbo Lake to meet an eagle hunter's family. Familiarize yourself with the life of a Kazakh family. Take photos of Kazakh men with eagles on the shores of the Beautiful Spot Lake. Have lunch at a Kazakh family. Drive back to Olgii Town.

DAY 4

17 Sep - The Golden Eagle Festival Day 1

Activities: Experience the culture and lifestyle of nomadic eagle hunters. Learn about their pastoral living in the summertime and eagle falconry in the wintertime. Highlights include the assembly of a Kazakh ger (yurt) and the migration of nomadic families.

Day 5

18 Sep - The Golden Eagle Festival Day 2

Activities: The festival starts with opening parades and competitions for costuming and hunting techniques. Eagle hunting competitions include landing eagles on their hands, releasing eagles from the top of the mountain, and chasing fox skins. Other events include Tenge-Ilu (coin grabbing while riding a horse), the best costume competition, Kokbar (tug of war), and Kizkhuar (traditional Khazak couples game). Festival winners are announced at the closing ceremony.

19 Sep - Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

Activities: Arrive at the entrance of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. Visit Kazakh families, learn about their lifestyle, and see their yaks.

About Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains: The Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains are the highest mountains in Mongolia, featuring towering peaks and expansive glaciers. The range is part of the larger Altai Mountains that stretch across Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The highest peak, Khüiten Peak, stands at 4,374 meters (14,350 feet) and is part of the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, which is known for its stunning natural beauty, including glaciers, alpine lakes, and diverse wildlife. This area is also culturally significant for the Kazakh people, who maintain traditional nomadic lifestyles and eagle hunting practices.

DAY 7

20 Sep - Altai Tavan Bogd Peaks

Activities: Embark on a memorable trek to the towering Altai Tavan Bogd peaks, soaring between 4100-4374m above sea level. Capture the breathtaking scenery of the high mountains and snow-capped landscapes. Stop at the revered "President Ovoo," a sacred site for locals set against the holy Altai peaks. After lunch near the President's Ovoo, drive back to Ulgii town.

21 Sep - Fly back to Ulaanbaatar
