Mongolia Snow Leopard Tour is dedicated for those who seek wild and ultimate photographic adventure to capture the elusive Snow Leopard and iconic mammals in their natural habitat. Based on our years of wildlife photography experiences and partnering with local rangers this special tour is designed well and run successfully. Mongolian Altai region, home to the largest snow Leopard population in Mongolia and rare wildlife, lying on 2000m-3500m (m.a.sl.) which gives a higher chance to see rare Snow Leopard and allows us to photograph Argali sheep, Siberian ibex, Grey wolf, Pallas’s cat and some rare species of raptors. Take a once-in-lifetime adventure to the remote Altai Mountains in west Mongolia with experienced photographer Batzaya Choijiljav and wildlife specialists, visiting golden eagle hunters to learn ancient falconry traditions, photograph real hunting scenes and experiencing nomads’ winter lifestyle before heading to the mountains. Tour Itinerary
Day 1.
After you arrive in Ulaanbaatar, transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, go on a half-day city tour, exploring renowned sites such as the Gandan Monastery, the National Museum of Mongolia, and Central Square. Engage with your guide to discuss tour plans and preparations for the exciting wildlife adventure planned for the coming days. Later, transfer back to the hotel for a delicious meal and some well-deserved rest. (L/D)
Day 2
Take a domestic flight to Ulgii, the cultural hub of Bayan-Ulgii province, predominantly inhabited by the Kazakh community. Upon arrival, meet the local team and journey to Sagsai village. There, immerse yourself in the ancient art of eagle hunting, particularly revered during the winter months. Witness the Kazakh Berkutchi as they set out with their Golden eagles for mountain hunts, capturing the essence of this time-honored practice. Enjoy the hospitality of a local host family for an authentic experience. (B/L/D)
Day 3-4.
Our wilderness adventure begins with an expedition dedicated to photographing one of the iconic wild cats, the elusive Pallas's cat. Our experienced team and local ranger partners lead the way, bringing the expertise to ensure a meticulously guided journey. With their knowledge of the terrain and the behavior of these elusive creatures, sightings of the Pallas's cat are virtually assured, offering a rare opportunity to capture this majestic feline on camera. Prepare for an immersive experience in the heart of nature, where every moment promises excitement and discovery. (B/L/D)

The next day, we go on a picturesque journey toward the Snow Leopard habitat, nestled amidst the rugged splendor of Mongolia's wilderness.
Day 6-11.
In the next day, we embark on a picturesque journey toward the Snow Leopard habitat, nestled amidst the rugged splendor of Mongolia's wilderness. In the ensuing days, explorations of the surrounding terrain ensue, with vigilant observations for traces of the elusive Snow Leopard. Daily treks, guided by our proficient team, lead participants to optimal vantage points renowned for Snow Leopard sightings. With our track record of multiple sightings from past expeditions, guests are afforded abundant opportunities to observe and capture images of these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
Additionally, excursions to nearby mountains afford guests the chance to photograph a diverse array of wildlife species including Siberian ibex, Argali wild sheep, and various raptors. As guests traverse the rocky yet snow-laden mountains, they are immersed in the pristine winter landscape of Mongolia, characterized by its expansive wilderness, clear blue skies, and invigorating ambiance.
Our knowledgeable guides and rangers remain vigilant, promptly alerting guests to sightings of the elusive cat and its prey. Furthermore, our dedicated photo instructor stands ready to offer expert guidance, ensuring optimal photography opportunities at opportune moments and locations.
The Snow Leopard habitat in Mongolia is located at lower altitudes than the Himalayas, which can be advantageous for clients who may experience altitude sickness. With the reduced altitude, clients can enjoy a more comfortable and manageable environment while still experiencing the breathtaking beauty and wildlife of the Snow Leopard habitat.
With the mid-winter temperatures averaging around -25°C during the day and dropping to -40°C at night, guests are accommodated in traditional ger dwellings, ideally suited to withstand the harsh climate. These classic accommodations provide a warm refuge, complemented by hearty meals, hot beverages, and basic amenities tailored to the cold weather.
Additionally, guests are equipped with portable battery chargers and other essential gear to facilitate their exploration. In sum, our wilderness expedition offers guests a comprehensive and enriching experience, seamlessly blending adventure, wildlife photography, and cultural immersion amidst the untamed splendor of Mongolia's winter wilderness.
Day 12.
Today we drive back to Ulgii town. Arrive at the local hotel and relax. (B/L/D)
Day 13.
Take a flight back to Ulaanbaatar and drive to Hustai NP. The park has had remarkable success in re-introducing the Takhi wild horse and is also a great habitat for locally and globally endangered mammals and birds. Stay in tourist ger camp. (B/L/D)
Day 14.
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 15.
Transfer to the Chinggis Khaan International Airport for the departure. (B)
