Bayan Zag - Flaming Cliffs

Discover the beauty of Bayanzag (also known as Flaming Cliffs), which was once an ancient sea bed which was existed 60-70 million years ago. American explorer Roy Andrew Chapman found dinosaur fossils from Bayanzag and nearby mountain Nemekht during his 2-year expedition throughout the Mongolian Gobi Desert. He discovered 8 different kinds of dinosaurs fossils from Mongolia. You can see dinosaur fossils in the Dinosaur Museum of Mongolia. Chapman’s discoveries made Bayanzag a world-famous place in the field of paleontology. Nowadays, it has become a world-famous touristy place. 

The name “Flaming Cliffs” because cliffs look like on fire during sunset. You must not lose a golden hour of sunset when you visit. When the whole area of Flaming Cliffs turns red, you might mistakenly believe that you landed on Mars. Here is your chance to land on Mars before humanity reaches it in the future.

THE BEST SEASON TO VISIT FLAMING CLIFFS

Summer is the best season to visit Flaming Cliffs because of longer daylight and warmer weather. But summer can be overcrowded with tourists, especially in July during Naadam Festival. September is also suitable for visiting the Gobi Desert region. The weather is not hot like summer, but not cold either.

The average temperature is 28 C in the day and 14.5 C at the night in the Gobi Desert region during Summer. There is about 21.5 mm of precipitation and 34 percent of humidity.
